Schedule: December 2006 - ongoing
Scope of Work: Project management, on site structural and architectural consultation, construction supervision, contract administration and post-contract cost management, preparation of project close out report and final handover certificate.
SMEC has been commissioned for post-contract consultancy services, which includes site supervision and overall project management for one of the largest religious edifices in the state of Qatar. It has an area of 20,000 sq.metres with a land area of 175,000 sq metres. It includes a capacity for 20,000 worshippers and a parking space for 1,527 cars and has been designed in a traditional Qatari style. The mosque has its own electrical substation, the first underground installation of this type in Qatar. The main prayer hall is adorned with 28 large domes and the single minaret is 65m high. SMEC’S scope of work also includes construction supervision of the complex electro-mechanical services within the building.
